Laura Good

Composer. Writer. Musician. Producer.

Laura Good is a composer, writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. She co-founded the alternative pop band, The Twigs with her twin sister, Linda Good, in Chicago during the late ‘90’s. Their band has released ten CDs and EPs and has performed all over the world. Her songs have been heard on TV, Radio and Film over the past two decades. She mixes her training in classical and jazz with her love of vintage pop, rock. She most recently co-wrote the book, music and lyrics for the musical, Ladyship, which was an Official Grand Jury Selection for the New York Musical Festival 2019. Ladyship was also a finalist for the 2020 Richard Rodgers Award for Musical Theater. Ladyship the Musical (Original Concept Recording) was released July 2024.

In addition to Ladyship and The Twigs, current projects include, Tahoe '68 an episodic comedy-drama and The Industrialists, an episodic comedy. Also in the works, a solo record inspired by her time living in Australia recorded under the moniker, Lars Darvo (The Undertow) and a collection of her short stories and essays, Stories: True and Otherwise. 

Ms. Good has a degree in music composition from Columbia College where she studied composing, voice, performance and creative writing. She was a Weisman Memorial Scholar in Music, and was fortunate enough to be mentored by jazz composers Doug Lofstrom and William Russo. 

Ms. Good credits her opera-singing mother for exposing her to musicals of all types, especially the work of Stephen Schwartz and Rodgers and Hammerstein. She recalls recreating one of her all time favorites, “Godspell,” in her living room with her twin sister on a weekly basis when they were kids.

She also collaborates with music/video artist Daniel Carlson. Previously a “diehard urbanite”, she relocated to rural Virginia after discovering she had deep Virginia roots and needed some fresh Blue Ridge air. She divides her time between east and west coasts. Contact: lars@twigs.com
